People's stories are fascinating, inspiring and an integral part of both my freelance writing and career counselling work, says Angela McCarthy.
Angela has been freelance writing for 17 years; most recently in the area of careers and education. In the past 10 years she has also gained a tertiary qualification in career counselling, and now has a 'portfolio' career combining career counselling and freelance writing. |

As well as writing regular articles on careers and employment for the New Zealand Herald, Angela writes career related copy for a range of websites and other publications as well as working as a qualified career counsellor in a high school and a tertiary institution.
Angela, who has a secondary school teaching background, also spent a number of years writing and editing a range of New Hobson's Press Smart Start and Latitude series - career theme books for teenagers, including profiles on young working people, information on tertiary education and job seeking.
There is nothing more inspiring than someone's personal story, she says.
